robinsons-gift-certificate-(gc)-worthless-robbery

This is regarding my complaint filed with the Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (FTEB) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) of the Philippines against the Gokongwei-owned Robinsons Malls on their arbitrary invalidation of old-design Robinsons Gift Certificates (GC) beginning June 1, 2016.

The Gokongwei-owned Robinsons Malls representatives have indicated in our mediation meeting at the DTI-FTEB that they will still replace old-design Robinsons Gift Certificates but the question is HOW? According to them, it will only be through a similar mediation proceeding – but they’re NOT ANNOUNCING this in their stores or anywhere else. This means that unwitting Robinsons GC holders will be told at the store level that their old-design Robinsons Giff Certificates are invalidated as of June 1, 2016 and are now WORTHLESS.

This is not an issue of GC security – because they could have easily informed Robinsons GC holders at the store level to have their old-design Robinsons GCs validated at Robinsons Malls Head Office or somewhere else or have it replaced at a mediation meeting at DTI. But instead, they won’t let customers know this. The Gokongwei-owned Robinsons Malls will not let customers get their hard-earned money back that easily. And in many cases (thousands of pesos worth when combined) Robinsons Malls won’t let them get them back at all.
